The Roger Milliken Center is a grand landscape with over 600 acres of green fields, groves and rare species of foliage. Milliken came to us for a guided mobile experience on iPhone and iPad for their visitors touring the acreage.
The app needed to be quick and intuitive so that visitors can easily find relevant content when touring the center. We wanted to ensure that each landmark's location was accurate. To achieve this, the development team and I manually plotted every landmark's geolocation by touring the expansive center. This allowed us to get a more precise location for each feature. Once the data was programmed into the app, I was responsible for designing icons, color correcting and resizing of images, and a detailed map illustration.
Upon opening the Milliken app, users are first familiarized with the “Home” tab which includes a slider made up of the main features as well as an overview of the app. The main navigation comprises of four distinct categories: Home, Map, Features & Directions. The “Map” menu offers users a detailed aerial illustration of the Milliken campus, highlighted with pins describing various interest points. The “Features” menu option lists an alphabetical directory that includes all of the Milliken campus locations. Lastly, the “Directions” menu option orients users on how to get to the campus from the airport or from their current location.
